Our Story

Founder, Tony Mines, opened Art Creations in 1973, after returning home from serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Having several locations throughout Chattanooga over the years, we moved to our current home at the foot of the Walnut St Bridge on Fraizer Avenue in 1987. Tony had worked in this exact location as a teenager at the Little Art Shop as a custom framer. Tony named the building the Little Building in honor of his former employer and mentor. The Frazier location sells art and graphic supplies and has a custom framing showroom for individual and corporate clients.

In 2011, Art Creations added a second, larger location near Hamilton Place off Gunbarrel Road. This location also sells art and graphic supplies, and is proud of our large custom framing showroom for individual and corporate clients. Our Hamilton Place location also offers art education classes for all ages, all skills, and all mediums throughout the year. We also host art birthday parties for children and paint parties for adults.

Art Creations is proud to be the oldest art supply and custom frame shop in Chattanooga with the original owners. Tony’s children, Jason Mines and Jessica Mines Dumitru, are now co-owners of Art Creations. Jason is the custom framing manager and supervises all of the framing production. Jessica, who left her career practicing law to join in the family business, will be stepping into her father’s shoes to oversee the operations of both stores. Jason and Jessica simply hope to honor their father’s legacy in the next generation of operation.
